Project: Medi-Cal Connect / Risk Stratification, Segmentation, and Tiering (RSST) Project

Background

Our client was looking to release an innovative, statewide risk tiering algorithm for their Medi-Cal populations. Project initiatives included:

  • Development of the RSST models for Managed Care Plans (MCPs) and Behavioral Health Plans (BHPs)

  • Development of dashboards that allowed MCPs and BHPs to view their high-risk populations and evaluate the domains in which their members were flagged

  • Development of a longitudinal member record (LMR) to support MCP outreach and engagement with their members

  • Development of a Transparency Document and other communications to facilitate MCP/BHP/public understanding of the algorithms and to built trust in the platforms

  • Development of statewide policies around the use of RSST to support member outreach and engagement to reduce the number of negative health outcomes experienced by these members
